Critical Support When You Need It Most
If a serious illness, injury, or worse occurs while you’re traveling, the Medical Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains benefit can help with reimbursement when you receive emergency medical transportation to the nearest appropriate facility or if circumstances apply, transportation back to your return destination. Transportation coordination is made through the plan’s non-insurance assistance provider. This coverage can help provide peace of mind, knowing that you and your loved ones can have vital support and resources during challenging situations far from home.
What This Benefit May Cover
This benefit consists of three types of coverage: Emergency Medical Evacuation, Medical Repatriation, and Repatriation of Remains.
Emergency Medical Evacuation
Provides reimbursement for the transportation expenses for an Emergency Medical Evacuation, to the nearest suitable hospital or medical facility where medically necessary treatment is available to treat an unforeseen sickness or injury provided:
- that adequate Medically Necessary treatment is not available in Your immediate area.
- the local attending Physician and Our designated Travel Assistance Services Provider determine that Your condition is acute, severe or life threating; and
Medical Repatriation
Following an Emergency Medical Evacuation or a covered injury or sickness, this plan provides benefits for Medical Evacuation expenses to return you to your point of origin, your primary residence, or to a hospital of choice or medical facility closest to your primary residence capable of providing continued treatment, if your local attending physician and our designated Travel Assistance Services Provider determine that it is medically necessary.
Repatriation of Remains
Benefits reimburse for covered Repatriation Expenses incurred to return your body to your city of primary residence or your origination point or to the place of burial in the United States of America if You die during Your Trip.
