Travel Insured International offers coverage to protect you from financial losses due to unforeseen events.
For the purposes of your Protection Plan, the events listed below are considered known and foreseeable on the date listed. Please refer to your plan document for specific coverage information.
Our plans may provide benefits that can be triggered by the closure and liquidation of Spirit Airlines. Coverage can vary by state, so you should review your plan document for possible benefits under Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Missed Connection, or Trip Delay as these coverages may provide protection for losses resulting from financial insolvency in certain circumstances. Since this event is no longer unforeseen, plans issued on or after May 2, 2026 will not cover this event.
Please visit www.spiritrestructuring.com for more information about Spirit’s wind-down process. As a first step, we suggest you review the process Spirit outlined on their website:
“Spirit will automatically process refunds for any flights purchased through Spirit with a credit or debit card to the original form of payment. Guests who booked flights via a travel agent should contact the travel agent directly to request a refund. Compensation for Guests who booked flights using any other methods, including a voucher, credit or Free Spirit points, will be determined at a later date through the bankruptcy process.”
Our plans may provide benefits that can be triggered by the jet fuel shortage due to global pricing increases. Coverage can vary by state, so you should review your plan document for possible benefits under Missed Connection and Trip Delay as these coverages may provide protection for losses resulting from this event in certain circumstances.
We are closely monitoring developments regarding the conflict in the Middle East, which began February 28, 2026. This is a concerning and evolving situation for people throughout the Middle East region and around the world. Our highest concern is the safety and well-being of our traveling public.
The majority of our travel protection plans exclude coverage for losses resulting from hostilities between nations and acts of war. However, coverage may vary depending on your specific travel protection plan, so we encourage you to review your plan documents for details on how your coverage may apply.
If you are currently in the Middle East and impacted by the conflict, we encourage you to reach out to our 24/7 non-insurance assistance provider:

Our plans may provide benefits that can be triggered by a violent event as is occurring in Mexico. Coverage can vary by policy or State, so you should review your plan document for possible benefits under Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Missed Connection, Trip Delay or Non-Medical Evacuation as these coverages may provide protection for losses in certain circumstances. Since this event is no longer unforeseen, plans issued on or after February 22, 2026 will not cover this event.
