Our underwriter, United States Fire Insurance Company, has ruled that travel protection plans may provide benefits that can be triggered by a “Natural Disaster” such as the potential volcanic eruption on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula. Claims related to applicable policies containing the “Natural Disaster” covered reason will be adjudicated on this basis and according to the terms and conditions of the policy.
As of November 16, 2023, our underwriter considers this a foreseen event which may not be covered under a plan purchased after this date.
Policyholders who purchased their coverage on or before November 15th, 2023 and have itineraries involving Iceland may be eligible for applicable benefits. “Natural Disaster” may trigger benefits such as Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Missed Connection, Trip Delay or Non-Medical Evacuation/Natural Disaster Evacuation.
Please refer to your plan document for the terms and conditions of the plan purchased as eligibility for coverage varies based upon the plan terms, conditions, and limitations, and may vary by state or may not be available in all states.
We encourage policyholders to call for assistance. While all changes to your travel plans may not be eligible for reimbursement, we are available to facilitate making any necessary changes to your current scheduled arrangements. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your plan, please contact Travel Insured International at 1-800-243-3174.
