Australia has declared a state of emergency, as wildfires remain active in a number of areas in Australia. We advise travelers to stay up to date with local media reports and follow the advice of the authorities in affected areas.

Plans purchased under Travel Insured’s Worldwide Trip Protector brand including Worldwide Trip Protector Plus, Worldwide Trip Protector, and Worldwide Trip Protector Lite contain various coverages that can be triggered by natural disasters, including wildfires.

Depending on the plan, individuals whose itineraries include the parts of Australia affected by wildfires may be eligible for coverage within the Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Travel Delay, and Missed Connection benefits.

The plans provide Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption coverage when (a) a Natural Disaster causes the insured traveler’s destination to be rendered uninhabitable and it remains uninhabitable during the time of the scheduled trip dates, or (b) local officials order or recommend an evacuation at the insured traveler’s trip destination due to a wildfire. The plans may also provide Travel Delay coverage if the traveler is delayed while en route to or from, or during the trip due to a common carrier delay or wildfire, and Missed Connection coverage if a traveler misses a cruise or tour departure due to a common carrier delay or wildfire. Please note that you may be able to cancel or interrupt your trip if a covered reason for Missed Connection coverage causes you to miss half or more of your trip duration.

For insured travelers who purchased Cancel for Any Reason coverage, we remind you that cancellations must be made 48 or more hours prior to your scheduled departure date and payment is limited to 75% of the non-refundable trip cost up to the stated plan maximum limit.

Please refer to your actual plan document for the specific terms and conditions of the specific plan purchased as eligibility for coverage varies based upon the specific plan terms, conditions and limitations, and may vary by state or may not be available in all states. Please note that the Worldwide Trip Protector Lite plan does not include all of the covered triggers for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption described above and does not contain Missed Connection coverage.
