9/23/2022 - Hurricane Ian

by Travel Insured | Sep 27, 2022

Tropical Storm Ian was named by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (“NOAA”) on Friday, September 23, 2022 and was upgraded to Hurricane Ian on Monday, September 26, 2022. Several coverages, including Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Trip Delay in most plans, can only be triggered by unforeseen reasons. Tropical Storm/Hurricane Ian is not considered to be an unforeseen reason for plans purchased on or after September 23, 2022.

Depending on your plan, coverages may include benefits for Travel Delay if you are delayed while en route to, from, or during your trip; and Missed Connection if you miss your cruise or tour departure. You may also be covered for Trip Interruption or Trip Cancellation if your trip must be disrupted or cancelled due to various covered reasons such as an evacuation ordered or recommended by local government authorities. Depending on your plan, you may be covered for Trip Cancellation if you cancel your trip within 48 hours of your scheduled departure date and time if the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (“NOAA”) declares a hurricane warning for your destination. This cancellation must occur more than 14 days following your effective date for Trip Cancellation coverage.

For insured travelers who purchased Cancel for Any Reason coverage, we remind you that cancellations must be made 48 or more hours prior to your scheduled departure date and payment is limited to 75% of the non-refundable trip cost up to the stated plan maximum limit.

Please refer to your actual plan document for the specific terms and conditions of the specific plan purchased as eligibility for coverage varies based upon the specific plan terms, conditions and limitations, and may vary by state or may not be available in all states. Travel Insured recommends travelers purchase proper travel protection plans in case of unforeseen circumstances and to know where to go and where not to go during their travels.
